Objects designed and manufactured by four incarcerated men

With Alexandra Caunes and Julio Bescos (Topotrope), visual artists

Intervention carried by Stimultania.

Support by the DRAC Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region and the SPIP of the Villefranche-sur-Saône prison as part of the Culture / justice program.

Stimultania invites Alexandra Caunes and Julio Bescos from the Topotrope collective to intervene at the Villefranche-sur-Saône prison. The two artists combine photography and design in a project around the object: a useful object since it will be thought to fit into the cells, but also intimate and poetic. An eyecup opens onto an interior space, a hidden landscape integrated within the installation.

This book tells the story of this long-term project. He shares the thoughts of Topotrope, a brilliant duo who held the course until the end. It testifies to the meeting with invested, meticulous men. He talks about doing but also about frustration, doubts. It shows what will have finally emerged, these incredible objects born in a room of 12 m2 in Villefranche-sur-Saône then finalized in a Saint-Etienne workshop.

This book is the image of the proposal: experimental, intimate, committed, collective, in progress, successful. It is almost a user manual, a guide.
