Jordan, 13, Esthébane, 12, Nora, 11, Maëlys, 12, Coralie, 15, spent a summer week sublimating everyday foods. Melons, bananas, peppers and loaves of bread have become subjects, staged in L'Éclaireur, the traveling artistic laboratory truck of visual artist Aurore Émaille. From there was born a new photographic material, strange, lunar, open to fantasy and dreams.

They also went to meet shopkeepers, grocers, bakers and restaurateurs from the neighborhood to talk about typical dishes, visit the kitchens, and be offered pastries to photograph. They knocked on the doors of residents to be invited to lunch, without success. They escaped the storm, picnicked happily with the food offered by the traders, discussed everything.

They laughed a lot with Gianfranco, an Italian carpenter artist, who came to accompany them in the construction of the tables and benches intended to accommodate the printed photographs. They installed this atypical furniture in the park of the Institut Saint-Joseph, Maison d'Enfants à Caractère Social, on a beautiful sunny afternoon. They presented their work during a final anthology brunch.

"Putting your eyes on the dish is part of a desire to create a common dynamic for a group of young people from the Laiterie district in Strasbourg around the issue of food. It was important for me to promote various culinary cultures by entering family kitchens. Very interested in the aesthetics of shapes, I wanted to bring young people to take a sublimating look at everyday foods and then take an interest in the origin and history of the foods chosen. The project was mainly intended to be documentary while playing with the staging. A mixture of investigation and aesthetic enhancement, reproduced within the Éclaireur, my traveling artistic laboratory truck.

As some of the participants were outside the neighborhood where I had established myself, the basic intention had to be adjusted. Entering families to take photographs in each other's kitchens was becoming complex. So I proposed an exploration of the neighborhood and the shops. Young people were invited to discover the variety of culinary proposals. The project gradually took on another form.”Aurore Émaille.
