In 2021, Stimultania is mobilizing the artists Benoît de Carpentier (author photographer) and Vidal Bini (dancer, choreographer) around a project focused on the theme of the body. Strongly impacted by the health crisis, the project The moving pictures of our bodies evolves to meet its public with young migrants accompanied by the Reception Service for Unaccompanied Minors in Strasbourg.

The first visit of the artists is an opportunity to present the device used: while Vidal Bini dances, Benoît de Carpentier takes pictures and the images are immediately video-projected on a wall of the room, creating a constantly moving background. Young people are invited to take advantage of this device with the support of photographs of athletes. They know them and enjoy putting themselves in the shoes of Kylian Mbappé or Antoine Griezmann scoring a goal.

For six weeks, Tuesday evenings become the special time for artists and young people to meet. The latter guide the photographer and the choreographer to places they frequent and appreciate: Place Hans-Jean-Arp and the MAMCS tags, Place Kléber, a football field next to SAMNA... Each session begins with the images athletes: Vidal Bini guides the gestures, Benoît de Carpentier guides the images. Little by little, the movements become more free, the participants seize the accessories brought by Benoît de Carpentier.

In full adolescence, young people are in a pivotal period of their lives, filled with questions about appearance and self-awareness, underlined by the uprooting they have suffered. This intervention, which mixes choreography and photography, body movement and image, thus explores a gestural practice that becomes synonymous with appropriation, self-acceptance and openness to the world.

Graduated from the School of Decorative Arts (ESAD) in Strasbourg, painting section in 1989, Benoit de Carpentier is a plastic photographer born in La Roche-sur-Yon. He now lives and works near Strasbourg. His works combine reality and fantasy, they are sometimes introspective, sometimes turned towards the other, often philosophical and pictorial. In 2002 and 2004 he received help with the creation of the DRAC Alsace for projects around landscape and architecture. He regularly exhibits his work, mainly in Strasbourg and Paris. He teaches photography and leads photographic projects in schools, from elementary to high school.

Vidal Bini is a dancer and choreographer. However, his approach and his creations cannot be reduced to the sole field of dance. Surrounded by visual artists, musicians and improvisers from other disciplines, he develops devices at the crossroads of several arts from which protean objects emerge. Singular proposals where experimentation and the unexpected are welcome, where the public is close to the action, sometimes even participating in it.
