Look for memories hidden behind a piece of clothing. Naohiro Ninomiya invites the students to make a photographic and literary portrait of a garment they have chosen. " When you know the weight of the memories, it becomes more difficult to throw away the old clothes. Clothes that have lived for a long time gain the autonomy of a character. »Naohiro Ninomiya

Strange disjointed protagonists or transformed beings, the clothes pose. And next door, in the second improvised studio, it's the creature that we capture: young people suddenly confronted with themselves and with others. Fragile faces that will come to rest on the garment, a film of memory that is added to the fabric, a sensation of a fuzzy, vaporous, uncertain presence, fixed by the photograph.

In parallel with the work on the image, everyone will have written the words that tell the story of the garment. Invented or real stories, always representative and sensitive, read and recorded by the students to accompany the images. A work around the material, that of the fabric and the skin but also the artistic material: photographic, literary and sound. An approach of time, of slowness, of patience.

The production takes several forms: a book and a video montage made by the artist.

Production: 40 books 14 × 21 cm format, 86 pages, distributed to students; sound slide show.

Born in Japan in 1969, Naohiro Ninomiya lives in Strasbourg. He quit his job in a company in 1996 to work on the farm in the Hokkaido region, then moved to France in 1998.
