Stimultania is continuing to develop its cycle of artistic workshops around the theme of work for young people in training in the Medico-Educational Institutes of the Saint-Etienne Metropolis.

It was at the IME les 4 vents de Firminy that the new session was held in February 2022 with seven participants aged 16 to 18. As with the other cycles, a series of workshops combining artistic, educational and therapeutic aspects took place over a week to explore several photographic techniques and new practices. The theme of work is not approached in a frontal or documentary way, it is rather a question of using what makes up a professional environment - the spaces of the learning workshops, the professional outfits, the tools, the gestures etc - to invent new forms, new uses, new stories. Install poetry.

Appropriating the proposed framework, the seven young participants thus produced photographs, videos, collages and sound recordings, producing substantial and rich material.

Through these diversions, a certain touching fragility is revealed, that of the young individual still learning, but also the desire to free himself from certain codes, the desire for fantasy, for breathing, for a break. Beauty too, which we tend to forget when we are in a work context – beauty of places, objects, clothes, colors.

The exhibition was held in June at the Maison de la Culture Le Corbusier, experiencing once again the beautiful modules designed by Jean-Michel Touzin which fit perfectly into the space. The opening brought together around forty people, the participants, their families, IME and PEP 42 staff and curious visitors.
