Payram was born in Tehran in 1959. He lives and works in Paris. At the age of 24, he fled Iran to settle in France. He is recognized today for his expertise in printing at Picto Bastille, a photography development and processing laboratory. But he is also a speaker at the School of Fine Arts in Paris and works as a photographer.
Photography fascinated Payram from an early age. At 13, he took pictures and developed his prints accompanied by his alchemist brother. Working exclusively with film, Payram experiments with what he calls “the paradox of light”. Marked by a mathematical accuracy, his photographs bear the imprint of their author: a perfect organization of the elements, as if a cosmic order naturally imposed an ideal balance. The photographer studies the accident between the sensitive surface and the light, seeking to master it to perfection.
