In June 2024, as part of the "Faire Face" program, Stimultania invites Romain Bagnard to do an artist/public creation residency with the CADA (Asylum Seekers' Reception Center). For two weeks, Romain Bagnard works in pairs with volunteers to create collective works focusing on simple visual elements, such as colors and shapes in the city.

Romain Bagnard brings together the images produced in a collection that takes the form of a book of detachable postcards. This work is given to all participants.

Mediation workshops are organized around the residency to discuss the images created. The workshops take place in the CADA cafeteria and are open to all interested and curious residents. These moments of meeting allow to share emotions, rituals and uses of the city, based on the images taken during the residency. A sensitive cartography of the city is gradually put in place over the course of the discussions. The drawings, words and sentences written in various languages (Pashto, Somali, Arabic, Bengali, etc.) reflect a personal vision of the city.

Self-taught photographer born in 1979, Romain Bagnard lives and works mainly in Lyon and its region. He devotes himself entirely to his personal photographic projects from 2020. Since that date, his work has been exhibited or screened in different festivals: Athens photo festival, Photographiques du Mans, Tbilisi Photo Festival, Rencontres de la Photographie d'Arles or even Traffic(s). He is the winner of the Maison Blanche Prize in 2021. He has also led workshops on urban themes since 2022. The starting point of his projects is often anchored in a marked sociological reality from which he detaches himself throughout his work by positioning himself on a crest line between documentary and visual photography. He thus constructs an assertive visual language which offers a sensitive and personal alternative to reality.
